For some rare reason, I had a hankering for a homemade Chex snack mix of sorts… My snack of choice is usually potato chips, or something along those salty lines. And I do generally like Chex mixes, but they usually have a bunch of other crap in them that isn’t good for me (i.e. MSG). So, with Mr. BFF’s fabulous idea of using an organic ranch mix as the seasoning, we were good to go!
- 1 10-1/2 oz. bag of Fritos
- 2 cups Rich Chex cereal
- 2 cups pretzel twists
- 1-1/2 cups nuts (We used cashews and macadamia nuts)
- 1 cup butter
- 3/4 package dry ranch dressing mix (organic)
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup mini M&M’s
- 1 cup dried blueberries
- 1 cup dried cherries
Basically, mix the dry ingredients (Fritos through nuts) together in a very large bowl. Then, melt the butter over low heat and stir in ranch mix until mixed well. Pour butter mixture over dry snack mix. Lightly grease a roasting pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 12 minutes, removing once to stir. Let snack mix cool. Stir in raisins through dried cherries. Enjoy!
